Columbus 2-2 Atlanta: The Crew denied all 3 points at Atlanta fight back

On Monday, Columbus and Atlanta were held to a 2-2 draw at MAPFRE Stadium. After today’s result, Columbus are in 7th place, with 35 points from 37 matches, while Atlanta sit in 11th, with 30 points from 37.

Atlanta started strong and were rewarded for their efforts, with a goal from Sosa at the 21 minute mark, to take a 1-0 lead into half time.

The Crew took the lead in the second half, thanks to a goal from Cucho in the 66th minute. Columbus looked to have the match under control when they scored again and increased their lead, thanks to a 2nd effort from Cucho, 72 minutes in to establish a 2-1. In the end though, their celebrations were kept brief, as Purata equalised for Atlanta, 77 minutes in and saw the match end 2-2.

Substitutions for Columbus included Sands, Molino, Williams, Morris and Hairston for Pedro Santos, Etienne, Díaz, Artur and Moreira, repectively. Atlanta brought on Franco Ibarra, Mosquera, Josef Martinez and Dwyer, to replace Amar Sejdic, Caleb Wiley, Luiz Araujo and Cisneros.

There were bookings for Artur, Etienne and Mensah from Columbus. For Atlanta, Sosa and Mosquera saw yellow.
