Colorado 3-1 Vancouver: All too easy for the Rapids as they sink the Caps

Colorado Rapids beat Vancouver Whitecaps with a 3-1 victory on Sunday at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park. COLO are now in 10th place on the table and have 36 points while Caps sit in 11th with 34 points after 43 matches.

Caps started strong and were rewarded for their efforts, when White gave them the lead on the 9 minute mark. However, they were unable to maintain their lead, Zardes managing to equalize, 21 minutes in 1-1. COLO then scored again and turned the match thanks to a goal from Rubio on the 33 minute mark. The score at break remained 2-1.

COLO once more applied the pressure in the second half and were rewarded, when Jonathan Lewis found the net, 75 minutes in. The match ended with a 3-1 win for COLO.

Substitutions for COLO included Barrios, Price, Max, Vallecilla and Darren Yapi for Nicholson, Gutierrez, Jonathan Lewis, Abubakar and Rubio, respectively. Caps brought on Dájome, Martins, Owusu, Ricketts and Raposo, to replace Schöpf, Godinho, Teibert, Veselinovic and Brown.

The referee booked Veselinovic and Schöpf for Caps.

Caps and COLO will next play at home to LA Galaxy and San Jose respectively.
