Colorado 4-3 Minnesota: Rapids hold out for a narrow win over United

Colorado Rapids beated Minnesota United 4-3 on Sunday at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park. As the table looks today, COLO and Minnesota currently occupy 10th and 4th spots in the league, with 30 points and 35 points respectively after 34 matches.

It was an impressive opening from The Loons, with an early goal from Danladi in the 4th minute. However, the good fortune didn’t last for long. An equalizer from Zardes 7 minutes into the game brought COLO level. The momentum was now with COLO, who then scored again through a goal from Rubio, 11 minutes in to establish a 2-1. However, Minnesota just before halftime hit back though thanks to a Amarilla goal, which saw the first half end 3-2.

COLO continued to apply pressure in the second and were rewarded, when Zardes found the net again, 61 minutes in. Minnesota in turn, then responded, at 81 minutes increasing their lead with an effort from Kallman. The match ended with a 4-3 win for COLO.

COLO brought on Gutierrez, Jonathan Lewis, Max, Warner and Abubakar for Price, Nicholson, Acosta, Rubio and Barrios. Minnesota brought on Niko Hansen, to replace Danladi.

There were bookings for Max from COLO, and Rosales, Lawrence and Fragapane, for Minnesota.
