Cin 4 – NYC 4: Points shared with visitors at Nippert Stadium
On Thursday, Cin and NYC were held to a 4-4 draw at Nippert Stadium. Cin were looking to continue their run, following a 1-0 victory against Orlando City. NYC had managed to pick up a single point in their matchup with Colorado Rapids. As the table looks today, Cin are in 5th place, with 24 points from 23 matches, while NYC sit in 2nd, with 28 points from 23.
The first half of the match started favourably for Cin, when Acosta gave Orange and Blue the lead at the 16 minute mark. The momentum was now with Cin, who then scored again through a goal from Brenner, at 25 minutes to establish a 2-0. Cin looked to have the match under control when they scored again and increased their lead, thanks to a effort from Brenner, 30 minutes in to establish a 3-0. However, The Pigeons weren’t lying down and managed to pull back a goal from Talles Magno, 45 minutes in. NYC then scored once more and hit back though thanks to a goal from Heber just before halftime to see out the first half 3-2.
NYC started the second half with an intensified spirit, when Heber found the net again, 52 minutes in. NYC looked to have the match under control when they scored again and increased their lead, thanks to a goal from Gabriel Pereira, at 52 minutes to establish a 4-3. In the end though, their lead was short lived, as Brenner equalised for Cin in the 70th minute and saw the match end 4-4.
Substitutions for Cin included Cruz, Powell, Murphy and John Nelson for Medunjanin, Ray Gaddis, Cameron and Barreal, repectively. NYC brought on Haak, Andrade and Andres Jasson, to replace Chanot, Talles Magno and Gabriel Pereira.
There were bookings for Nwobodo, Cruz and Brenner from Cin. For NYC, Haak and Callens saw yellow.
