Chicago 0-2 Montreal: First half goals by Montreal sink the Fire

Montréal’s 2-0 win over Chicago Fire on Sunday, was hard fought at SeatGeek Stadium. After today’s result, Chicago are in 13th place, with 30 points from 39 matches, while MON sit in 2nd, with 49 points from 39.

MON started the first half well, when Koné found the net at the 19 minute mark. They then scored again, increasing their advantage thanks to a goal from Quioto, at 24 minutes, ending the first half 2-0. Both teams struggled to produce anything meaningful in the second half, leaving the final score at 2-0.

Substitutions for Chicago included Herbers, Przybyłko and Burks for Shaqiri, Bornstein and Czichos, repectively. MON brought on Piette, Toye, Thorkelsson, Choiniere and Ibrahim, to replace Torres, Lappalainen, Quioto, Mihailovic and Toye.

The referee booked Terán and Torres from Chicago. MON had the worst of it though, with Koné, Wanyama, Mihailovic and Breza seeing yellow, and Koné (2 yellow cards) then sent off with a red.
