Chicago 2-3 Columbus 3: The Crew edge a five-goal thriller in Chicago

Chicago on home loss to Columbus Crew at SeatGeek Stadium on Sunday. Following today’s result, Chicago are in 13th place in the table and have 17 points while Columbus sit in 7th with 25 points after 27 matches.

Chicago started strong and were rewarded for their efforts, when Czichos found the net, 29 minutes in. However they weren’t finished yet and Mueller made it 2-0 just before halftime, to take a 2-0 lead into half time.

The Crew continued to apply pressure in the second and were rewarded, when Etienne found the net, at 63 minutes. Columbus looked to have the match under control when they scored again and increased their lead, thanks to a second effort from Etienne at the 75 minute mark to establish a 2-2. Columbus then netted again and turned the match thanks to a goal from Cucho at the 83 minute mark to make it 3-2.

Substitutions for Chicago included Torres, Przybyłko and Herbers for Gutierrez, Durán and Shaqiri, repectively. Columbus brought on Díaz, Etienne, Cucho and Igbekeme for Zawadzki, Anibaba, Russell-Rowe and Zelarayán.

The referee booked Giménez, Czichos, Navarro, Gutierrez and Durán from Chicago and Navarro (2 yellow cards) went off with a red card, while Columbus’ Moreira, Mensah and Cucho also received a yellow.
