Chicago 2-3 Charlotte: Visitors steal the show in five-goal thriller

Charlotte FC eased past Chicago Fire in a 3-2 victory on Sunday at SeatGeek Stadium. Chicago are now in 12th place on the table and have 35 points while Charlotte sit in 11th with 38 points after 44 matches.

Chicago dominated the first half, with an early goal from Pineda in the 3rd minute. However they weren’t finished yet and Durán made it 2-0, 30 minutes in and saw the first half out 2-0.

Charlotte continued to apply pressure in the second period and were rewarded, thanks to a goal from Swiderski, 68 minutes in. The Minted looked to have the match under control when they scored again to grab the advantage, thanks to a goal from Nuno Santos, at 76 minutes to establish a 2-2. They then extended the lead with a second effort from Swiderski just before the final whistle to give a final score of 3-2.

Substitutions for Chicago included Bezerra, Ivanov and Andre Reynolds Ii for Durán, Gutierrez and Shaqiri, respectively. Charlotte replaced Alcivar, Gaines, Nuno Santos and Reyna with Bronico, Shinyashiki, Ríos and Kerwin Vargas.

There were bookings for Durán and Bezerra from Chicago. For Charlotte, Bronico, Swiderski, Jones and Gaines saw yellow.
