Charlotte 4-0 Philadelphia: The Minted hammered by Charlotte

Philadelphia Union on away loss to Charlotte on Sunday. Charlotte are now in 9th place on the table and have 41 points while Union sit in 1st with 64 points after 46 matches.

The Minted didn’t take long to get on the score-sheet, when Ríos opened the rout in the 24th minute, ending the first half 1-0.

Charlotte fought back, when Ríos found the net once more in the 54th minute. The momentum was again with Charlotte, who then scored again courtesy of a effort from Ríos in the 72nd minute to establish a 3-0 result. The Minted then netted again and increased their lead thanks to a 4th effort from Ríos just before the full time to make it 4-0.

Substitutions for Charlotte included Nuno Santos, Gaines, Alcivar and Shinyashiki for Bronico, Kerwin Vargas, Jóźwiak and Swiderski, respectively. Union brought on Burke, Aaronson, Sullivan and Real, to replace Uhre, Jack Mcglynn, Carranza and Elliott.

The referee booked Bronico from Charlotte. Union had the worst of it though, with Wagner and Gazdag seeing yellow, and Wagner (2 yellow cards) then sent off with a red.

Charlotte will next travel to Red Bulls, while Union will face Toronto FC at home.
