Charlotte 2-3 Chicago: The Minted fall short as Fire find a second-half winner

Charlotte were defeated at home by Chicago Fire on Sunday. As it stands, Charlotte are in 9th place in the table and have 29 points while Chicago sit in 7th with 30 points after 33 matches.

Charlotte started strongly in the first half, with an early goal from Reyna in the 1st minute. However, the good fortune didn’t last for long. An equalizer from Przybyłko at the 21 minute mark brought Chicago level. The momentum was now with Chicago, who then scored again through a goal from Navarro at the 24 minute mark to establish a 2-1. However, their lead was short lived, as Swiderski equalised for The Minted just before halftime, ending the first half 2-2.

Chicago started strong in the second half and were able to dominate, when Przybyłko found the net again, at 52 minutes, leaving the final score at 3-2.

Substitutions for Charlotte included Mora, Jones, Shinyashiki, Alcivar and Ríos for Corujo, Mcneill, Reyna, Bender and Lindsey, repectively. Chicago brought on Herbers, Gutierrez, Andre Reynolds Ii and Durán for Giménez, Torres, Mueller and Shaqiri.

There were bookings for Gaines and Jones from Charlotte, and Przybyłko, Sekulić and Mueller, for Chicago.
