Atlanta 4-2 Toronto: Defenses struggles as Atalanta take the win

Atlanta United eased past Toronto FC in a 4-2 victory on Sunday at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Atlanta and Phili currently occupy 9th and 13th spots in the league, with 36 points and 34 points respectively after 42 matches.

Atlanta found the net first, when Purata gave them the lead just before half-time

Phili started the second half with renewed vigour, with a goal from Akinola on the 52 minute mark. However, each side looked hungry to win and Atlanta then found the back of the net, at 62 minutes thanks to Purata, taking the score to 2-1. However, their lead didn’t last for long, Bernardeschi producing an equaliser in the 67th minute, bringing Phili level. Atlanta then netted once more and increased their advantage thanks to a hat trick effort from Purata just before the final whistle to give a final score of 4-2.

Substitutions for Atlanta included Cisneros, Mosquera, Franco Ibarra, Caleb Wiley and Campbell for Dwyer, Hernández, Luiz Araujo, Amar Sejdic and Almada, respectively. Phili brought on Marshall-Ruty, Jesús Jiménez, Henry, Achara and Kerr, to replace Criscito, Okello, Macnaughton, Akinola and Nelson.

There were bookings for Hernández, Almada, Mosquera and Cisneros from Atlanta, and Criscito, Nelson and Laryea, for Phili.
