Atlanta 0-3 Austin: Los Verdes cruise to impressive road win in Georgia

Austin’s 3-0 win over Atlanta United on Sunday, was hard fought at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. As the table looks today, Atlanta and Austin are 11th, (20 points) and 2nd, (37 points), spots respectively, after 26 matches.

Los Verdes dominated the first half, when Felipe Martins opened the rout, 9 minutes in. They then scored again, increasing their advantage thanks to a goal from Finlay at the 17 minute mark. The score at half time was 2-0.

Austin continued to apply pressure in the second and were rewarded, when Driussi found the net, at 57 minutes, sealing a 3-0 victory for the home side.

Substitutions for Atlanta included Moreno, Machop Chol, Purata and Sosa for Cisneros, Franco Ibarra, McFadden and Rossetto, repectively. Austin brought on Driussi, Maxi Urruti, Redes, Stroud and Romaña, to replace Wolff, Hoesen, Finlay, Fagundez and Cascante.

There were bookings for Luiz Araujo from Atlanta, and Gallagher, for Austin.

Atlanta next face Real Salt Lake and Austin are at home to Houston Dynamo.
