Wycombe 1 – Wigan Athletic 3: Visitors at Adams Park secure victory

Wigan Athletic beat Wycombe Wanderers with a thumping 3-1 victory on Tuesday at Adams Park. With both teams drawing in their previous fixtures, they were keen to pick up points. Wycombe wanted to improve their league standing after a 5-5 draw against Cheltenham Town. Wigan Athletic, on the other hand, had managed to pick up a single point in their encounter with Rotherham United. As the table looks today, Wycombe are in 7th place, with 55 points from 35 matches, while Wigan Athletic sit in 2nd, with 66 points from 35.

The Chairboys started the first half well, thanks to Sullay Kaikai giving Wycombe the lead, at 22 minutes, finishing the first half 1-0.

Wigan Athletic continued to apply pressure in the second and were rewarded, with a goal from Tom Naylor in the 70th minute. The momentum was now with Wigan Athletic, who then scored again through a goal from Callum Lang at the 78 minute mark to establish a 2-1. However they weren’t finished yet and Callum Lang made it 3-1 at the 82 minute mark with a final score of 3-1.

Wycombe brought on Garath McCleary, Adebayo Akinfenwa and Dominic Gape for Brandon Hanlan, Sullay Kaikai and Lewis Wing. Wigan Athletic brought on Stephen Humphrys, Gwion Edwards and Glen Rea, to replace Josh Magennis, Gavin Massey and Will Keane.

The referee booked one player from Wigan Athletic, Curtis Tilt.

Wycombe will next travel to Accrington Stanley, while Wigan Athletic will face Sunderland AFC at home.
