Rovers 0-2 Wycombe: First half brace guides The Chairboys to victory

Wycombe Wanderers beat Forest Green Rovers with a 2-0 victory on Saturday at The New Lawn. Rovers arrived at the match looking to pick up more points after losing 2-0 to Barnsley in their previous fixture. Wycombe, meanwhile, had managed to pick up a point in their matchup with Morecambe FC. Rovers are now in 24th place, with 13 points from 18 matches, while Wycombe sit in 10th, with 25 points from 18.

Wycombe dominated the first half, when David Wheeler found the net in the 14th minute. They then scored again, pulling level thanks to a goal from Garath McCleary, at 27 minutes to see out the first half 2-0. Both teams struggled to produce anything meaningful in the second half, leaving the final score at 2-0.

Substitutions for Rovers included Josh March, Bryan Fiabema and Armani Little for Harry Boyes, Christian Marques and Harvey Bunker, respectively. Wycombe brought on Sullay Kaikai and Jason McCarthy, to replace Anis Mehmeti and Garath McCleary.

There were bookings for Lewis Thomas, Harvey Bunker, Regan Hendry and Josh March from Rovers. For Wycombe, Alfie Mawson, Jack Grimmer and Anis Mehmeti saw yellow.

Wycombe and Rovers will next play away to Cheltenham Town and Oxford United respectively.
