Wycombe 1 – SWFC 0: Job done for The Chairboys at home to The Owls

Wycombe Wanderers beat Sheffield Wednesday with a thumping 1-0 victory on Saturday at Adams Park. Wycombe wanted to improve their league standing after a 1-1 draw against AFC Wimbledon whilst SWFC were hoping to increase their winning streak after back-to-back victories against Crewe Alexandra and Milton Keynes Dons. As the table looks today, Wycombe are currently 6th with 80 points from 45 matches, while SWFC sit in 7th, with 79 points from 45.

After a goalless first half, Wycombe piled on the pressure in the second and were rewarded, thanks to a goal from Jordan Obita at the 62 minute mark. When the final wisthle blew, the result was 1-0 to Wycombe.

For Wycombe, David Wheeler, Adebayo Akinfenwa and Jack Grimmer, came on for Joe Jacobson, Sam Vokes and Dominic Gape. SWFC replaced Olamide Shodipo and Callum Paterson with Saido Berahino and Fisayo Dele-Bashiru.

There were bookings for Joe Jacobson and Garath McCleary from Wycombe, and Cheyenne Dunkley and Sam Hutchinson, for SWFC.

Wycombe will next play Burton Albion away, with SWFC facing Portsmouth FC at home.
