Wigan Athletic 1 – Plymouth Argyle 1: Honours even and points shared at Dw Stadium

Wigan Athletic were held to 1-1 draw by Plymouth Argyle down on Saturday at Dw Stadium. With both teams drawing in their previous fixtures, they were keen to pick up points. Wigan Athletic were looking for a victory after a 2-2 draw against Ipswich Town. Plymouth Argyle had managed to pick up a single point in their encounter with Sunderland AFC. As the table looks today, Wigan Athletic and Plymouth Argyle currently occupy 1st and 5th spots in the league, with 89 points and 80 points respectively after 45 matches.

Following a goalless first half, Plymouth Argyle took the initiative in the second half, with Luke Jephcott finding the net, at 63 minutes. In the end though, their celebrations were kept brief, as Jack Whatmough equalised for Wigan Athletic in the 74th minute. The game ended wih a 1-1 draw.

For Wigan Athletic, Gavin Massey, came on for Tom Pearce. Plymouth Argyle brought on Jordan Garrick and Niall Ennis, to replace Ryan Hardie and Luke Jephcott.

There were bookings for Joe Bennett, Tom Pearce and Will Keane from Wigan Athletic, and Jordan Houghton, for Plymouth Argyle.

Wigan Athletic will next play Shrewsbury Town away, with Plymouth Argyle facing Milton Keynes Dons at home.
