West Brom 4 – Barnsley 0: Plenty of goals as The Baggies get the home win

Barnsley succumbed to an away defeat against West Bromwich Albion at The Hawthorns on Saturday. West Brom were looking to pick up points after winning last match. Barnsley, on the other hand, lost 3-1 in the last match they played against Preston North End. Following the final whistle at the end of the last game of the Championship season, West Brom and Barnsley sit 10th (64 points) and 24th (30 points) in the table respectively, after a total of 46 matches.

The Baggies didn’t take long to get on the score-sheet, with Karlan Grant opening the rout at the 37 minute mark. They then scored again, increasing their advantage thanks to a goal from Adam Reach just before half-time, which saw the first half end 2-0.

West Brom staged a comeback in the second half, with a goal from Matt Clarke, 52 minutes in. However they weren’t finished yet and Karlan Grant made it 4-0 at the 60 minute mark to make it 4-0.

Both managers used the full entitlement. For West Brom, Caleb Taylor, Zachary Ashworth and Callum Robinson, came on for Semi Ajayi, Matt Clarke and Jake Livermore, Barnsley brought on Josh Benson, David Bremang and Victor Adeboyejo to replace William Hondermarck, Clarke Oduor and Cauley Woodrow.

The referee booked one player from Barnsley, Matty Wolfe.
