This is everything that Sunderland AFC could have hoped for, a job very much done. A victory in the first leg, with no goals conceded. They take a 1 goal lead into the return fixture and are favourites to win the tie at this stage. Darren Moore’s men will not be bruised by the loss, but also at having missed the chance to get the crucial away goal, that would strengthen their position. They do however have the home advantage in the next game.
