Shrewsbury Town 2-1 Milton Keynes Dons: Shrews hold out for win

Milton Keynes Dons on away loss to Shrewsbury Town at Montgomery Waters Meadow on Saturday. Both teams arrived at the match with previous defeats in the league. Shrewsbury Town were looking to get back to winning ways after losing their last match 2-0 to Cheltenham Town, while Milton Keynes Dons were beaten 3-2 in their previous match against Peterborough United. Shrewsbury Town and Milton Keynes Dons sit 9th, (18 points) and 22nd, (10 points), spots respectively, after 13 matches.

Shrewsbury Town scored first, when Tom Bayliss found the net, 24 minutes in. However they weren’t finished yet and Jordan Shipley made it 2-0 just before half-time to see out the first half 2-0.

Milton Keynes Dons started strong in the second half and were able to dominate, when Zak Jules found the net in the 54th minute, seing the match finish 2-1.

Both teams used all available substitutes. Substitutions for Shrewsbury Town included Robert Street and Aiden O’Brien for Matthew Pennington and Christian Saydee, respectively, Milton Keynes Dons brought on Bradley Johnson, Matt Smith, Louie Barry and Conor Grant to replace Jack Tucker, Darragh Burns, Josh McEachran and Matthew Dennis.

The referee booked Robert Street from Shrewsbury Town. Milton Keynes Dons had the worst of it though, with Matthew Dennis and Josh McEachran seeing yellow, and Dawson Devoy then sent off with a red.

Shrewsbury Town will next play Fleetwood Town away, with Milton Keynes Dons facing Plymouth Argyle at home.
