SWFC 6 – Cambridge 0: Bad day for visitors at Hillsborough Stadium

Sheffield Wednesday on a 6-0 win against Cambridge Utd on Saturday at Hillsborough Stadium. SWFC were hoping to get something from this game after losing their last game 3-1 to Lincoln City. Cambridge are struggling for form following a draw in their last match. After today’s result, SWFC are in 7th place, with 64 points from 38 matches, while Cambridge sit in 15th, with 45 points from 38.

SWFC started strongly in the first half, with Lloyd Jones opening the rout after only 6 minutes. The Owls looked to have the game under control when they scored again and increased their lead, thanks to a goal from Barry Bannan at the 10 minute mark to establish a 2-0. The momentum was now with SWFC, who then scored again through a goal from Saido Berahino, 37 minutes in to establish a 3-0. SWFC then netted once more and increased their lead thanks to a effort from Saido Berahino just before half-time, finishing the first half 4-0.

The Owls started strong in the second half and were able to dominate, with an early goal from George Byers in the 48th minute. However they weren’t finished yet and Saido Berahino made it 6-0 at the 54 minute mark with a final score of 6-0.

Both teams used all available substitutes. For SWFC, Florian Kamberi, Dominic Iorfa and Sylla Sow, came on for Lee Gregory, Sam Hutchinson and Saido Berahino, Cambridge brought on Liam O’Neil, Harvey Knibbs and Jubril Okedina to replace Adam May, Wes Hoolahan and Sam Sherring.

SWFC will next play Gillingham FC away, with Cambridge facing Milton Keynes Dons at home.
