Rotherham 2 – Oxford United 1: Visitors to the AESSEAL New York Stadium leave with nothing

Oxford United on away loss to Rotherham at the AESSEAL New York Stadium on Saturday. Rotherham were looking to get back their winning ways after losing their last game 2-0 to Burton Albion. Oxford United were hoping to increase their winning streak after back-to-back victories against Milton Keynes Dons and Fleetwood Town. As it stands, Rotherham are in 2nd place on the table and has 86 points while Oxford United sit in 8th with 75 points after 45 matches.

Oxford United started the first half well, with Daniel Barlaser giving Oxford United the lead, 10 minutes in. However, their celebrations were kept brief, as Rarmani Edmonds-Green equalised for The Millers just before half-time, which saw the first half end 1-1.

Rotherham continued to pile on the pressure in the second and were rewarded, thanks to Daniel Barlaser finding the net, 66 minutes in, leaving the final score at 2-1.

For Rotherham, Joe Mattock and Jamie Lindsay, came on for Wes Harding and Oliver Rathbone. Oxford United replaced Herbie Kane, Ryan Williams and Mark Sykes for Marcus McGuane, Marcus Browne and Gavin Whyte.

There were bookings for Wes Harding, Daniel Barlaser and Jordi Osei-Tutu from Rotherham, and Ryan Williams and Matty Taylor, for Oxford United.

Rotherham will next play Gillingham FC away, with Oxford United facing Doncaster Rovers at home.
