Reading 2 – Stoke 1: Welcome victory against The Potters for The Royals

Reading eased past Stoke City in a 2-1 victory on Tuesday at the Madejski Stadium. Reading wanted to improve their league standing after a 1-1 draw against Barnsley. Stoke were coming from consecutive wins against Sheffield United and Millwall. Following today’s result, Reading and Stoke currently occupy 21st and 15th spots in the table, with 37 points and 52 points respectively after 30 matches.

The Royals found the net first, with Michael Morrison finding the net after 13 minutes. However, their celebrations were kept brief, as Romaine Sawyers equalised for Stoke just before half-time, to take a 1-1 lead into half time.

Reading rallied after this and were rewarded, thanks to a goal from Taylor Harwood-Bellis at the 63 minute mark. When the final wisthle blew, the result was 2-1 to Reading.

Both managers used allfull available substitutions. For Reading, Femi Azeez, Tom Dele-Bashiru and Scott Dann, came on for Junior Hoilett, Ovie Ejaria and John Swift, Stoke brought on Romaine Sawyers, Tyrese Campbell and Steven Fletcher to replace Jordan Thompson, D’Margio Wright-Phillips and Josh Maja.

There were bookings for Ovie Ejaria from Reading. For Stoke, Josh Tymon, Taylor Harwood-Bellis and Ben Wilmot saw yellow.

Reading will next play Cardiff City at home, with Stoke facing West Bromwich Albion away.
