North End 2 – QPR 1: The Lilywhites see off visitors at Deepdale

Preston North End beat Queens Park Rangers with a thumping 2-1 victory on Saturday at Deepdale. With each team arriving on the back of a league defeat, they were both keen to pick up points. North End were looking forward to meeting again, following a previous defeat to Derby County. QPR had lost their previous match against Fulham. As things stand, North End are in 12th place on the table and has 57 points while QPR sit in 10th with 59 points after 41 matches.

North End started the first half well, thanks to Emil Riis finding the net just before half-time

The Lilywhites started the second half with an intensified spirit, with an early goal from Cameron Archer in the 50th minute. In the end though, Rangers pull-back just before the final whistle, with a penalty goal from Andre Gray. The game ended 2-1 to North End.

Both managers used allfull available substitutions. For North End, Sean Maguire, Josh Murphy and Mikey O’Neill, came on for Emil Riis, Gregory Cunningham and Cameron Archer, QPR brought on George Thomas, Charlie Austin and Andre Gray, to replace Luke Amos, Lyndon Dykes and Ilias Chair.

The referee booked Sam Field for QPR.

North End will play their next fixture at home against Millwall, while QPR will face Huddersfield Town away.
