Port Vale 1-0 Lincoln City: The Valiants assert themselves in second half to seal victory

Port Vale strolled past Lincoln City with a 1-0 win on Saturday at Vale Park. Port Vale were hoping to get something from this game after losing their last match 3-2 to Ipswich Town whilst Lincoln City had been hopeful of extending their winning run, after a 1-0 victory against Barnsley. Port Vale and Lincoln City are 12th, (22 points) and 14th, (21 points), in the table respectively, after 17 matches.

After a goalless first half, The Valiants applied pressure in the second and were rewarded, when Daniel Butterworth found the net on the 68 minute mark, leaving the final score at 1-0.

Substitutions for Port Vale included Tom Conlon, Samson Robinson, Connor Hall, James Wilson and Gavin Massey for Ben Garrity, David Worrall, William Forrester, Daniel Butterworth and Ademipo Odubeko, respectively. Lincoln City replaced Jordan Garrick, Jamie Robson, Lasse Sorensen and Tashan Oakley-Boothe with Daniel Mandroiu, Sean Roughan, Max Sanders and Jack Diamond.

There were bookings for Ben Garrity, Samson Robinson and Dan Jones from Port Vale. For Lincoln City, Ben House and Sean Roughan saw yellow.

Port Vale will next travel to Oxford United, while Lincoln City will face Plymouth Argyle at home.
