Plymouth Argyle 2-1 Shrewsbury Town: Home fans rewarded with victory at Home Park

On Tuesday, Shrewsbury Town suffered an away defeat to Plymouth Argyle at Home Park. Plymouth Argyle were looking for a victory following a disappointing 2-2 draw with Bristol Rovers in their previous game. Shrewsbury Town were beaten 1-0 in their previous match against Charlton Athletic. Plymouth Argyle are now in 1st place, with 38 points from 16 matches, while Shrewsbury Town sit in 12th, with 21 points from 16.

Shrewsbury Town started the first half well, when Jordan Shipley gave them the lead on the 30 minute mark, finishing the first half 1-0.

Plymouth Argyle once more applied the pressure in the second half and were rewarded, with a goal from Niall Ennis in the 70th minute. They then scored again, pulling level thanks to a goal from Morgan Whittaker, at 83 minutes to give a final score of 2-1.

Substitutions for Plymouth Argyle included Niall Ennis, Joe Edwards, Sam Cosgrove and Brendan Galloway for Finn Azaz, Conor Grant, Ryan Hardie and Matt Butcher, respectively. Shrewsbury Town brought on Rekeil Pyke, Ryan Bowman and Aiden O’Brien, to replace Christian Saydee, Robert Street and Jordan Shipley.

There were bookings for Sam Cosgrove from Plymouth Argyle, and Robert Street and Luke Leahy, for Shrewsbury Town.

Plymouth Argyle will next play Exeter City at home, with Shrewsbury Town facing Portsmouth FC away.
