Plymouth Argyle 2-1 Sheffield Wednesday: Pilgrims edge The Owls at Home Park

Plymouth Argyle beated Sheffield Wednesday 2-1 on Tuesday at Home Park. Both Plymouth Argyle and SWFC arrived in good form, having secured victories in their previous matches. Plymouth Argyle were keen to hang onto their position at the top of the table and extend their winning run after winning their previous two games in the league. The most recent was against the Wycombe Wanderers away (1-0), the other to Ipswich Town at home (2-1) whilst SWFC were coming from consecutive wins against Port Vale and Wycombe Wanderers. Plymouth Argyle are currently 1st with 28 points from 8 matches, while SWFC sit in 3rd, with 23 points from 8.

Plymouth Argyle started well, with an early goal from Ryan Hardie in the 3rd minute. However, their celebrations were kept brief, as Liam Palmer equalised for SWFC in the 7th minute, to take a 1-1 lead into half time.

Plymouth Argyle rallied after this and were rewarded, thanks to a goal from Sam Cosgrove just before the full time so at full time it was 2-1 to Plymouth Argyle.

Plymouth Argyle next face Accrington Stanley while SWFC are at home to Cheltenham Town.
