Plymouth Argyle 1 – Oxford United 0: Visitors unable to get win at Home Park

Plymouth Argyle snatched all three points from Oxford United in a narrow 1-0 victory on Saturday, at Home Park. Plymouth Argyle were looking to get back their winning ways, following a previous defeat to Ipswich Town. Oxford United had managed to pick up a single point in their encounter with Ipswich Town. After today’s result, Plymouth Argyle and Oxford United currently occupy 4th and 7th spots in the league, with 77 points and 69 points respectively after 41 matches.

Following a goalless first half, Plymouth Argyle piled on the pressure in the second and were rewarded, thanks to Joe Edwards finding the net at the 56 minute mark, leaving the final score at 1-0.

Both coaches used all substitutions. For Plymouth Argyle, Luke Jephcott, Adam Randell and Ryan Broom, came on for Jordan Garrick, Danny Mayor and Panutche Camara, Oxford United brought on Sam Winnall, James Henry and Nathan Holland, to replace Marcus McGuane, Ryan Williams and Billy Bodin.

There were bookings for Michael Cooper from Plymouth Argyle. For Oxford United, Ciaron Brown, Billy Bodin and Matty Taylor saw yellow.

Plymouth Argyle will next travel to Burton Albion, while Oxford United will face Sunderland AFC at home.
