Plymouth Argyle 2 – Cheltenham Town 0: Visitors unable to get win at Home Park

Plymouth Argyle beat Cheltenham Town with a thumping 2-0 victory on Tuesday at Home Park. Both sides arrived on the back of wins. Plymouth Argyle were looking to continue their run after winning their previous two games against Accrington Stanley at home and Portsmouth FC at home, by 4-0 and 1-0 respectively. Cheltenham Town were coming from consecutive wins against AFC Wimbledon and Morecambe FC. After today’s result, Plymouth Argyle are currently 4th with 74 points from 31 matches, while Cheltenham Town sit in 12th, with 50 points from 31.

Plymouth Argyle started strong and were rewarded for their efforts, with Niall Ennis finding the net, at 14 minutes. Plymouth Argyle then netted once more and increased their advantage thanks to a goal from Danny Mayor just before half-time, to take a 2-0 lead into half time. With both teams struggling to produce anything meaningful in the second half though, the game ended 2-0.

Plymouth Argyle brought on Adam Randell, Steven Sessegnon and Jordan Garrick for Danny Mayor, Joe Edwards and Niall Ennis. Cheltenham Town brought on Charlie Colkett, George Lloyd and Ellis Chapman, to replace Elliot Bonds, Matthew Pollock and Liam Sercombe.

The referee booked Charlie Colkett for Cheltenham Town.

Cheltenham Town and Plymouth Argyle will next play away to Sheffield Wednesday and Ipswich Town respectively.
