Plymouth Argyle 4 – Accrington Stanley 0: Bad day for visitors at Home Park

On Saturday, Accrington Stanley suffer an away defeat to Plymouth Argyle at Home Park. Both Plymouth Argyle and Accrington Stanley arrived in good form, having secured victories in their previous matches. Plymouth Argyle were looking to continue their run after winning their previous two games in the competition. The most recent was against the Bolton Wanderers away (1-0), the other to AFC Wimbledon at home (2-0). Accrington Stanley, on the other hand, were able to continue their winning streak after a 2-1 win against Charlton Athletic in their last match. As the table looks today, Plymouth Argyle are in 4th place, with 71 points from 39 matches, while Accrington Stanley sit in 13th, with 50 points from 39.

Plymouth Argyle didn’t take long to get on the score-sheet, with Panutche Camara opening the rout at the 12 minute mark. Plymouth Argyle then netted once more and increased their lead thanks to a goal from Joe Edwards at the 37 minute mark, to take a 2-0 lead into half time.

Plymouth Argyle continued to pile on the pressure in the second and were rewarded, with a goal from Niall Ennis in the 64th minute. However they weren’t finished yet and Ryan Hardie made it 4-0 at the 79 minute mark to make it 4-0.

Both teams used all available substitutes. For Plymouth Argyle, Niall Ennis, Adam Randell and Ryan Broom, came on for Jordan Garrick, Panutche Camara and Danny Mayor, Accrington Stanley brought on Liam Coyle, Korede Yemi Adedoyin and Liam Isherwood, to replace Matt Butcher, Harry Pell and Harvey Rodgers.

The referee booked Panutche Camara from Plymouth Argyle. Accrington Stanley had the worst of it though, with Matt Butcher seeing yellow, and Toby Savin then sent off with a red.

Plymouth Argyle will next travel to Ipswich Town, while Accrington Stanley will face Gillingham FC at home.
