Peterborough United 1-0 Cambridge: Visitors leave Abax Stadium with nothing

Cambridge Utd fell to an away defeat at the hands of Peterborough United at Abax Stadium. Both sides arrived in good form, having secured victories in their previous matches. Peterborough United were looking to pick up points after winning their previous two matches in the league. The most recent was against the Accrington Stanley at home (3-1), the other to Oxford United away (2-1). Cambridge, meanwhile, had been hopeful of extending their winning run, after a 3-2 victory against Wycombe Wanderers. Peterborough United are now in 4th place, with 31 points from 17 matches, while Cambridge sit in 17th, with 19 points from 17.

It was an impressive opening from Peterborough United, when Lloyd Jones found the net, at 18 minutes. They then managed to see out the first half 1-0. The second 45 minutes ended with little further action at either end and goalless.

Substitutions for Peterborough United included Ricky Jade-Jones, Hector Matthew Kyprianou, Jack Marriott, Kelland Watts and Josh Knight for Kwame Poku, Harrison Burrows, Jonson Clarke-Harris, Ephron Mason-Clark and Dan Butler, respectively. Cambridge brought on Sam Smith, Liam O’Neil and Shilow Tracey, to replace Jack Lankester, Lewis Simper and James Brophy.

There were bookings for Frankie Kent from Peterborough United, and Lewis Simper, George Williams and Liam O’Neil, for Cambridge.

Peterborough United will next travel to Exeter City, while Cambridge will face Bolton Wanderers at home.
