Oxford 1-1 Morecambe: Home advantage cancelled out by visitors

Oxford United were held to 1-1 draw by Morecambe FC down on Saturday at Kassam Stadium. With each team arriving on the back of a league defeat, they were both keen to pick up points. Oxford United were looking to improve their position in the table, following a previous defeat to Lincoln City. Morecambe FC were beaten 1-0 in the previous match against Bolton Wanderers. As the table looks today, Oxford United and Morecambe FC are 19th, (4 points) and 23rd, (3 points), in the league respectively, after 5 matches.

Following a goalless first half, Morecambe FC certainly were out of the blocks quickly in the second half, with an early goal from Jensen Weir in the 48th minute. In the end though, their celebrations were kept brief, as Kyle Joseph equalised for Oxford United, 56 minutes in and saw the match end 1-1.

Substitutions for Oxford United included Slavi Spasov, Tyler Goodhram and Alex Gorrin for Billy Bodin, James Henry and Marcus McGuane, repectively. Morecambe FC replaced Ousmane Fane, Cole Stockton, Dylan Edward Connolly, Shane McLoughlin and Anthony O’Connor with Ashley Hunter, Jonathan Obika, Arthur Gnahoua, Liam Gibson and Jensen Weir.

There were bookings for Alex Gorrin and Ciaron Brown from Oxford United. For Morecambe FC, Cole Stockton, Ousmane Fane, Farrend Rawson and Dylan Edward Connolly saw yellow.
