Oxford United 1-2 MK Dons: Dons hang on for the road win

Milton Keynes Dons enjoyed an away victory against Oxford United at Kassam Stadium on Saturday. Both teams arrived at the match with previous defeats in the league. Oxford United were looking to get back to winning ways after losing 1-0 to Plymouth Argyle in their previous fixture. Milton Keynes Dons had lost their previous match against Bolton Wanderers. both teams are now on 10 points and sit in 19th and 18th places respectively after 10 matches.

Milton Keynes Dons started strongly in the first half, when Matt Smith gave them the lead just before half-time, finishing the first half 1-0.

Milton Keynes Dons continued to pile on the pressure in the second period and were rewarded, when Will Grigg found the net on the 84 minute mark. Oxford United in turn, then responded just before the final whistle, grabbing the lead with an effort from John Mousinho. The match ended with a 2-1 victory for the visitors.

Both teams used all available substitutes. Substitutions for Oxford United included Tyler Goodhram, Lewis Bate and Gatlin O Donkor for Stuart Findlay, Billy Bodin and Kyle Joseph, respectively, Milton Keynes Dons brought on Joshua Kayode, Bradley Johnson and Will Grigg, to replace Matthew Dennis, Josh McEachran and Conor Grant.

The referee booked Josh McEachran for Milton Keynes Dons.

Oxford United will next play Fleetwood Town at home, with Milton Keynes Dons facing Lincoln City away.
