Morecambe FC 1-2 Cambridge: Cambridge win tight tussle at Globe Arena

Morecambe FC were defeated at home by Cambridge Utd at Globe Arena on Saturday. Morecambe FC were looking to pick up points after winning last match. Cambridge had lost their previous match against Barnsley. Morecambe FC and Cambridge currently occupy 23rd and 7th spots in the league, with 7 points and 16 points respectively after 11 matches.

Morecambe FC found the net first, when Jensen Weir found the net, 12 minutes in. However, their lead was short-lived, as Jack Lankester equalised for Cambridge in the 32nd minute, to take a 1-1 lead into half time.

Cambridge continued to apply pressure in the second period and were rewarded, thanks to a goal from Harvey Knibbs just before the full time, leaving the final score at 2-1.

Substitutions for Morecambe FC included Dylan Edward Connolly, Ousmane Fane, Arthur Gnahoua, Jonathan Obika and Anthony O’Connor for Jacob Bedeau, Jake Taylor, Cole Stockton, Kieran Phillips and Liam Shaw, respectively. Cambridge brought on Shilow Tracey, Harvey Knibbs and Fejiri Okenabirhie, to replace James Brophy, Jack Lankester and Joe Ironside.

The referee booked Jensen Weir for Morecambe FC.

Morecambe FC will play away against Accrington Stanley, while Cambridge will face Derby County at home.
