Morecambe FC 3 – Burton Albion 0: Bad day for visitors at Globe Arena

Morecambe FC ease to a comfortable 3-0 win at Globe Arena. With each team arriving on the back of a league defeat, they were both keen to pick up points. Morecambe FC arrived at the game looking pick up points after losing their last game 4-1 to Wigan Athletic whilst Burton Albion lost 2-0 in the last match they played against Charlton Athletic. As it stands, Morecambe FC and Burton Albion are 21st, (35 points) and 17th, (47 points), in the table respectively, after 41 matches.
Morecambe FC started strongly in the first half, with Arthur Gnahoua opening the rout, at 41 minutes. Morecambe FC looked to have the game under control when they scored again and increased their lead, thanks to a goal from Adam Phillips, 45 minutes in to establish a 2-0. However they weren’t finished yet and Cole Stockton made it 3-0 just before half-time, which saw the first half end 3-0. Both teams struggled to produce anything meaningful in the second half, leaving the final score at 3-0.
Both teams used all available substitutes. For Morecambe FC, Toumani Diagouraga, Ryan Cooney and Jonah Ayunga, came on for Ousmane Fane, Ryan McLaughlin and Adam Phillips, Burton Albion brought on Harry Chapman, Terry Taylor and Gassan Ahadme to replace Christian Saydee, Ciaran Gilligan and Louis Moult.
The referee booked Dylan Edward Connolly from Morecambe FC. Burton Albion had the worst of it though, with Adedeji Oshilaja seeing yellow, and Conor Shaughnessy then sent off with a red.
Morecambe FC will next travel to Cambridge Utd, while Burton Albion will face Plymouth Argyle at home.
