Lincoln 2-2 Fleetwood: Stalemate at Sincil Bank as visitors net late equaliser

On Saturday, Lincoln City and Fleetwood Town were held to a 2-2 draw at Sincil Bank. Lincoln City were looking to get back their winning ways, following a previous defeat to Peterborough United. Fleetwood Town secured a point against Derby County in their previous match. As the table looks today, both teams are on 7 points and occupy 18th and 14th places respectively after 6 matches.

Lincoln City started strong and were rewarded for their efforts, when Teddy Bishop gave Lincoln City the lead early in the first half. Lincoln City looked to have the match under control when they scored again and increased their lead, thanks to a 2nd effort from Teddy Bishop at the 14 minute mark to establish a 2-0. Fleetwood Town in turn, then responded, at 32 minutes increasing their lead with an effort from Paddy Lane to see out the first half 2-1.

Fleetwood Town took the lead in the second half, when Gerard Garner found the net just before the final whistle, leaving the final score at 2-2.

Both teams used all available substitutes. Substitutions for Lincoln City included Jamie Robson, Charley Kendall and Charles Vernam for Sean Roughan, Teddy Bishop and Anthony Scully, repectively, Fleetwood Town brought on Carlos Mendes Gomes, Gerard Garner and Promise Omochere, to replace Cian Hayes, Harvey Macadam and Joe Garner.

There were bookings for Sean Roughan, Tom Hopper and Ben House from Lincoln City. For Fleetwood Town, Toto Nsiala, Jay Lynch, Josh Earl and Paddy Lane saw yellow.

Lincoln City will play away against Cambridge Utd, while Fleetwood Town will face Wycombe Wanderers at home.
