Lincoln City 2 – Crewe Alexandra 1: Visitors to Sincil Bank leave with nothing

Crewe Alexandra succumbed to an away defeat to Lincoln City at Sincil Bank on Saturday. Lincoln City were looking forward to meeting again after losing their last game 2-1 to Accrington Stanley. Crewe Alexandra secured a point against Ipswich Town in their previous match. This left, Lincoln City and Crewe Alexandra are 17th (52 points) and 24th (29 points) in the league respectively, after a total of 46 matches.

Crewe Alexandra started strongly in the first half, thanks to Chris Long finding the net, 21 minutes in, to take a 0-1 lead into half time.

Lincoln City continued to pile on the pressure in the second and were rewarded, with Tom Hopper finding the net in the 78th minute. They then scored again, increasing their advantage thanks to a goal from Hakeeb Adelakun just before the final whistle to make it 2-1.

Lincoln City brought on Max Sanders, Tom Hopper and Hakeeb Adelakun for Anthony Scully, Lasse Sorensen and Timothy Eyoma. Crewe Alexandra brought on Josh Lundstram, Daniel Agyei and Luke Murphy, to replace Ryan Alebiosu, Oliver Finney and Rakeem Harper.
