Lincoln City 3 – Cheltenham Town 0: Bad day for visitors at Sincil Bank

Lincoln City beat Cheltenham Town with a thumping 3-0 victory on Monday at Sincil Bank. Lincoln City arrived at the game looking pick up points after losing their last game 3-2 to Portsmouth FC. Cheltenham Town had managed to pick up a single point in their encounter with Gillingham FC. As the table looks today, Lincoln City are in 18th place on the table and has 49 points while Cheltenham Town sit in 13th with 55 points after 44 matches.

Lincoln City started the first half well, with an early goal from Morgan Whittaker in the 4th minute. The momentum was now with Lincoln City, who then scored again through a goal from Anthony Scully, 17 minutes in to establish a 2-0. However they weren’t finished yet and Morgan Whittaker made it 3-0, at 19 minutes to see out the first half 3-0. The second part ended with little further action at either end and goalless.

Both coaches used all available substitutions. For Lincoln City, Tom Hopper, Max Sanders and Lasse Sorensen, came on for Liam Cullen, Morgan Whittaker and Lewis Fiorini, Cheltenham Town brought on Lewis Freestone, Elliot Bonds and Liam Sercombe to replace Aaron Ramsey, Ellis Chapman and Charlie Colkett.

The referee booked Aaron Ramsey, Lewis Freestone and Alfie May for Cheltenham Town.

Lincoln City will next play Accrington Stanley away, with Cheltenham Town facing Bolton Wanderers at home.
