Forest Green 1-2 Morecambe: Rovers toppled by Morecambe

Morecambe FC banked all three points against the Forest Green Rovers in a 2-1 victory on Saturday, at The New Lawn. Rovers arrived with the intention of improving their league position following a disappointing 1-1 draw with Charlton Athletic in their previous game. Morecambe FC were beaten 3-0 in their previous match against Sheffield Wednesday. Rovers are currently 22nd with 8 points from 10 matches, while Morecambe FC sit in 23rd, with 7 points from 10.

Rovers started strongly in the first half, thanks to a goal from Connor Wickham, 30 minutes in. However, their lead was short-lived, as Kieran Phillips equalised for Morecambe FC just before half-time, ending the first half 1-1.

Morecambe FC continued to apply pressure in the second period and were rewarded, when Farrend Rawson found the net just before the final whistle, leaving the final score at 2-1.

Substitutions for Rovers included Armani Little, Reece Brown and Ben Stevenson for David Davis, Myles Peart-Harris and Regan Hendry, respectively. Morecambe FC brought on Ryan Cooney, Arthur Gnahoua, Ousmane Fane and Dylan Edward Connolly, to replace Liam Gibson, Jake Taylor, Liam Shaw and Cole Stockton.

There were bookings for Corey O’Keeffe and Connor Wickham from Rovers. For Morecambe FC, Ryan Cooney saw yellow.

Morecambe FC and Rovers will next play at home to Cambridge Utd and Exeter City respectively.
