Fleetwood Town 0-1 Barnsley: The Tykes leave Highbury Stadium with 3 points

Barnsley eased past Fleetwood Town in a 1-0 victory on Saturday at Highbury Stadium. Fleetwood Town were on the hunt for more points after a 1-1 draw against Charlton Athletic. Barnsley were hoping to continue their winning streak after back-to-back victories against Charlton Athletic and Cambridge Utd. Fleetwood Town are now in 15th place, with 12 points from 12 matches, while Barnsley sit in 5th, with 20 points from 12.

After an uneventful first half, The Tykes continued to pile on the pressure in the second period and were rewarded, when Jack Aitchison gave them the lead just before the final whistle, seing the match finish 1-0.

Substitutions for Fleetwood Town included Joe Garner, Paddy Lane, Carlos Mendes Gomes and Cian Hayes for Admiral Muskwe, Daniel Batty, Callum Morton and Harvey Macadam, respectively. Barnsley brought on Adam Phillips, Josh Martin, Ziyad Larkeche and Jack Aitchison for Herbie Kane, Luke Thomas, Nicky Cadden and Devante Cole.

There were bookings for Michael Devlin, Harvey Macadam, Lewis Warrington and Joe Garner from Fleetwood Town, and Herbie Kane, for Barnsley.

Fleetwood Town will next travel to Portsmouth FC, while Barnsley will face Exeter City at home.
