Fleetwood Town 1 – Accrington Stanley 2: Visitors secure points with win at Highbury Stadium

Accrington Stanley beats Fleetwood Town 2-1 on Saturday at Highbury Stadium. Fleetwood Town were looking to pick up points after winning last match. Accrington Stanley are struggling for form following a draw in their last match. Following today’s result, Fleetwood Town are in 19th place, with 38 points from 42 matches, while Accrington Stanley sit in 14th, with 54 points from 42.

Accrington Stanley continued to pile on the pressure in the second and were rewarded, thanks to a goal from Sean McConville in the 62nd minute. Accrington Stanley then scored once more and turned the match thanks to a goal from Michael Nottingham just before the final whistle with a final score of 2-1.

Both teams used all available substitutes. For Fleetwood Town, Harvey Macadam, Cian Hayes and Daniel Butterworth, came on for Anthony Pilkington, Gerard Garner and Ellis Harrison, Accrington Stanley brought on Joe Pritchard, Korede Yemi Adedoyin and Liam Coyle to replace Matt Butcher, John O’Sullivan and Tommy Leigh.

The referee booked five players. Paddy Lane from Fleetwood Town, who saw yellow cards and Alex Cairns, sent off with a red, as well as for Accrington Stanley Harvey Rodgers, Jay Rich-Baghuelou and Michael Nottingham also seeing yellows.

Fleetwood Town next face Oxford United and Accrington Stanley are at home to Burton Albion.
