Doncaster Rovers 2 – Crewe Alexandra 0: Home fans rewarded with victory at Keepmoat Stadium

Doncaster Rovers beat Crewe Alexandra with a thumping 2-0 victory on Saturday at Keepmoat Stadium. Both Doncaster Rovers and Crewe Alexandra arrived at the match from previous defeats in the league. Doncaster Rovers were looking forward to meeting again after losing their last game 2-0 to Wycombe Wanderers. Crewe Alexandra were beaten 3-1 in the previous match against Fleetwood Town. As things stand, Doncaster Rovers are in 23rd place, with 33 points from 42 matches, while Crewe Alexandra sit in 24th, with 25 points from 42.

Doncaster Rovers scored first, with Tommy Rowe finding the net in the 10th minute. Doncaster Rovers then netted once more and increased their lead thanks to a goal from Josh Martin just before half-time, which saw the first half end 2-0. With both teams struggling to produce anything meaningful in the second half though, the game ended 2-0.

Both teams used all available substitutes. For Doncaster Rovers, Ollie Younger, Ademipo Odubeko and Ethan Gaibraith, came on for Kyle Knoyle, Reo Griffiths and Matthew Smith, Crewe Alexandra brought on Luke Murphy, Chris Porter and Sean Lawton to replace Bassala Sambou, Mikael Mandron and Lewis Billington.

There were bookings for Tommy Rowe from Doncaster Rovers. For Crewe Alexandra, Mikael Mandron and Chris Long saw yellow.

Crewe Alexandra and Doncaster Rovers will next play at home to AFC Wimbledon and Bolton Wanderers respectively.
