Derby 2-1 Wycombe: Hourihane brace gives The Rams home win

On Saturday, Wycombe Wanderers suffered an away defeat to Derby County at Pride Park Stadium. Derby were hoping to get something from this game after losing their last match 2-0 to Lincoln City. Wycombe were looking to extend their winning run after a 1-0 victory against Accrington Stanley. Derby are now in 7th place, with 14 points from 10 matches, while Wycombe sit in 16th, with 11 points from 10.

Wycombe started the match strongly, when Anis Mehmeti gave them the lead on the 15 minute mark to see out the first half 1-0.

The Rams continued to pile on the pressure in the second half and were rewarded, with a goal from Conor Hourihane, 72 minutes in. They then extended the lead with a second effort from Conor Hourihane just before the full time to make it 2-1.

Substitutions for Derby included Nathaniel Mendez Laing, James Collins, Craig Forsyth and Liam Francis Thompson for Max Bird, Haydon Roberts, Tom Barkhuizen and David McGoldrick, respectively. Wycombe brought on Daryl Horgan, Ali Al-Hamadi, Sullay Kaikai and Christian Forino for Lewis Wing, Sam Vokes, Nick Freeman and Anis Mehmeti.

There were bookings for Conor Hourihane from Derby, and Ryan Tafazolli and Sam Vokes, for Wycombe.

Derby will next play Cheltenham Town at home, with Wycombe facing Sheffield Wednesday away.
