Derby 1 – North End 0: The Lilywhites unable to avoid away defeat

Derby County defeat Preston North End 1-0 on Saturday at Pride Park Stadium. Derby wanted to continue adding points after a 1-1 draw against Coventry City. North End were beaten 4-0 in the previous match against Luton Town. At the moment, Derby and North End sit 23rd, (28 points) and 15th, (51 points), in the league respectively, after 40 matches.

After an un-eventful first half, Derby piled on the pressure in the second and were rewarded, with a goal from Ravel Morrison at the 81 minute mark, leaving the final score at 1-0.

Both teams used all available substitutes. For Derby, Krystian Bielik, Ravel Morrison and Richard Stearman, came on for Festy Ebosele, Malcolm Ebiowei and Luke Plange, North End brought on Sepp Van den Berg, Sean Maguire and Josh Murphy to replace Emil Riis, Ched Evans and Cameron Archer.

Derby and North End played a tough game where the referee sanctioned Derby with yellow cards to Curtis Davies and Jason Knight and with red card to Max Bird, while from North End Ben Whiteman and Daniel Johnson were booked and red to Liam Lindsay.

Derby will next travel to Swansea City, while North End will face Queens Park Rangers at home.
