Derby 0 – Cardiff 1: The Bluebirds get narrow win away at Pride Park Stadium

Derby County suffered a home defeat against Cardiff City at Pride Park Stadium on Saturday. Derby had been hopeful of continuing their run after winning last match. Cardiff had managed to pick up a single point in their encounter with Birmingham City. Following the final whistle at the end of the last game of the Championship season, Derby and Cardiff sit 22nd (34 points) and 18th (53 points) in the league respectively, after a total of 46 matches.

Following a goalless first half, Cardiff certainly were out of the blocks quickly in the second half, with a goal from Jordan Hugill in the 55th minute. The game ended with a 1-0 victory for the visitors.

Both managers used all available substitutions. For Derby, Luke Plange, Festy Ebosele and, came on for Tom Lawrence, Craig Forsyth and, Cardiff brought on Rubin Colwill, Isaak Davies and Max Watters, to replace Oliver Denham, Eli King and Isaak Davies.

There were bookings for Liam Francis Thompson from Derby, and Perry Ng and Mark Thomas Harris, for Cardiff.
