Derby 2-1 Barnsley: The Rams deliver decisive win at Pride Park Stadium

Derby enjoyed a mesmerising home victory against Barnsley at Pride Park Stadium on Saturday. Derby were hoping to get something from this game, following a previous defeat to Charlton Athletic. Barnsley, on the other hand, were able to continue their winning streak after a 1-0 win against Cheltenham Town in their last match. As the table looks today, Derby and Barnsley currently occupy 7th and 19th spots in the league, with 6 points and 3 points respectively after 3 matches.

It was an impressive opening from The Rams, when Conor McCarthy gave Derby the lead, 8 minutes in. Derby then scored once more and increased their advantage thanks to a goal from Nathaniel Mendez Laing at the 35 minute mark to see out the first half 2-0.

The Tykes took the lead in the second half, when Josh Benson found the net, 64 minutes in. The final result, Derby 2, Barnsley 1.

Substitutions for Derby included Korey Smith, Lewis Norman Dobbin and Craig Forsyth for Louie Sibley, Nathaniel Mendez Laing and Tom Barkhuizen, repectively. Barnsley replaced Devante Cole, Aiden Marsh, Robbie Cundy and Clarke Oduor with James Norwood, Jack Aitchison, Conor McCarthy and Luca John Connell.

There were bookings for Eiran Joe Cashin from Derby, and Conor McCarthy, for Barnsley.

Derby will play their next fixture away against Shrewsbury Town, while Barnsley will face Bristol Rovers at home.
