Crewe Alexandra 1 – Wycombe 3: The Chairboys get valuable away win at Alexandra Stadium

Wycombe Wanderers snatched all three points from Crewe Alexandra in a 3-1 victory on Saturday, at Alexandra Stadium. Crewe Alexandra were looking to pick up points, following a 2-1 victory against Cheltenham Town while Wycombe lost 3-2 in the last match they played against Accrington Stanley. As things stand, Crewe Alexandra are currently 24th with 25 points from 37 matches, while Wycombe sit in 5th, with 61 points from 37.

The Chairboys started the game well, thanks to Sam Vokes giving Wycombe the lead in the 14th minute to see out the first half 0-1.

Wycombe fought back, with a goal from Lewis Wing, at 55 minutes. However, Crewe Alexandra weren’t lying down and managed to pull back a goal from Chris Porter at the 58 minute mark. Wycombe in turn, then responded just before the final whistle increasing their lead with a 2nd effort from Lewis Wing and seeing the game end 3-1.

For Crewe Alexandra, Oliver Finney, Bassala Sambou and Connor Salisbury, came on for Rakeem Harper, Daniel Agyei and Josh Lundstram. Wycombe brought on Christian Forino, Brandon Hanlan, David Wheeler and Jack Young, to replace Ryan Tafazolli, Garath McCleary, Daryl Horgan and Anis Mehmeti.

There were bookings for Luke Offord and Regan Griffiths from Crewe Alexandra. For Wycombe, Lewis Wing saw yellow.

Crewe Alexandra will next play Sunderland AFC away, with Wycombe facing Rotherham United at home.
