Crewe Alexandra 1 – Portsmouth FC 3: Visitors at Alexandra Stadium secure victory

Portsmouth FC’s 3-1 win over Crewe Alexandra on Tuesday, was hard fought at Alexandra Stadium. Crewe Alexandra were looking forward to meeting again after losing their last game 3-1 to Wycombe Wanderers. Portsmouth FC were hoping to increase their winning streak after back-to-back victories against Accrington Stanley and Oxford United. As it stands, Crewe Alexandra and Portsmouth FC sit 24th, (25 points) and 10th, (57 points), in the league respectively, after 34 matches.

Portsmouth FC dominated the first half, thanks to an early goal from George Hirst in the 3rd minute. Portsmouth FC then scored once more and increased their advantage thanks to a goal from Tyler Walker, 31 minutes in, to take a 0-2 lead into half time.

Portsmouth FC continued to pile on the pressure in the second and were rewarded, with George Hirst finding the net again in the 66th minute. In the end though, Crewe Alexandra just before the final whistle hit back though via a Chris Long goal. The game ended with a 3-1 victory for the visitors.

Next up, Crewe Alexandra are away to Sunderland AFC, whilst Portsmouth FC will travel to face Ipswich Town.
