Crewe Alexandra 0 – Bolton Wanderers 1: Visitors ecstatic after win at Alexandra Stadium

Bolton Wanderers’ 1-0 win over Crewe Alexandra on Saturday, was hard fought at Alexandra Stadium. With each team arriving on the back of a league defeat, they were both keen to pick up points. Crewe Alexandra were looking forward to meeting again after losing their last game 2-0 to Sunderland AFC. Bolton Wanderers were beaten 1-0 in the previous match against Plymouth Argyle. As it stands, Crewe Alexandra are in 24th place, with 25 points from 39 matches, while Bolton Wanderers sit in 11th, with 58 points from 39.

After a goalless first half, Bolton Wanderers continued to pile on the pressure in the second and were rewarded, with a goal from Amadou Bakayoko just before the final whistle, leaving the final score at 1-0.

Both coaches used all available substitutions. For Crewe Alexandra, Luke Murphy, Chris Porter and Regan Griffiths, came on for Oliver Finney, Rakeem Harper and Callum Ainley, Bolton Wanderers brought on Amadou Bakayoko, Elias Kachunga and Kyle Dempsey, to replace Jon Bodvarsson, Oladapo Afolayan and Jordan Williams.

There were bookings for Travis Johnson from Crewe Alexandra, and Oladapo Afolayan, for Bolton Wanderers.

Crewe Alexandra will play their next fixture away against Milton Keynes Dons, while Bolton Wanderers will face Portsmouth FC at home.
