Crewe Alexandra 3 – AFC Wimbledon 1: Visitors leave Alexandra Stadium with nothing

Crewe Alexandra’s 3-1 win over AFC Wimbledon on Friday, was hard fought at Alexandra Stadium. Crewe Alexandra were looking to get back their winning ways, following a previous defeat to Doncaster Rovers. AFC Wimbledon, on the other hand, had managed to pick up a single point in their encounter with Milton Keynes Dons. As the table looks today, Crewe Alexandra and AFC Wimbledon are 24th, (28 points) and 22nd, (35 points), spots respectively, after 43 matches.
AFC Wimbledon started the first half well, thanks to a goal from Sam Cosgrove at the 19 minute mark and seeing the first half out 0-1.
Crewe Alexandra continued to pile on the pressure in the second and were rewarded, with a goal from Mikael Mandron, 60 minutes in. Crewe Alexandra looked to have the game under control when they scored again and increased their lead, thanks to a goal from Chris Long, 62 minutes in to establish a 2-1. Crewe Alexandra then netted once more and increased their lead thanks to a goal from Bassala Sambou just before the final whistle with a final score of 3-1.
For Crewe Alexandra, Oliver Finney and Bassala Sambou, came on for Scott Kashket and Chris Long. AFC Wimbledon replaced Egli Kaja, Derick Osei Yaw and Ethan Chislett with Ayoub Assal, Luke McCormick and Nesta Guinness-Walker.
Crewe Alexandra will next travel to Sheffield Wednesday, while AFC Wimbledon will face Wycombe Wanderers at home.
