Coventry 1 – Huddersfield 2: Visitors ecstatic after win at Coventry Building Society Arena

Huddersfield Town beat Coventry City with a thumping 2-1 victory on Saturday at Coventry Building Society Arena. Coventry wanted to improve their league standing after a scoreless draw against West Bromwich Albion in their previous match whilst Huddersfield were hoping to increase their winning streak after back-to-back victories against Barnsley and Middlesbrough. Following today’s result, Coventry are in 11th place, with 63 points from 45 matches, while Huddersfield sit in 4th, with 79 points from 45.

Huddersfield started the game well, with a goal from Harry Toffolo just before half-time, to take a 0-1 lead into half time.

The Terriers continued to apply pressure in the second and were rewarded, thanks to a goal from Faustino Anjorin in the 79th minute. Coventry in turn, then responded just before the final whistle increasing their lead with an effort from Viktor Gyokeres and seeing the game end 2-1.

Both managers used allfull available substitutions. For Coventry, Fabio Tavares, Josh Eccles and Jodi Jones, came on for Martyn Waghorn, Todd Kane and Gustavo Hamer, Huddersfield brought on Danny Ward, Faustino Anjorin and Naby Sarr, to replace Jordan Rhodes, Duane Holmes and Jonathan Hogg.

The referee booked Todd Kane for Coventry.

Coventry will next play Stoke City away, with Huddersfield facing Bristol City at home.
