Cheltenham 1-4 Bristol Rovers: Rovers power past Cheltenham for third straight win

Cheltenham Town were defeated at home by Bristol Rovers at Jonny-Rocks Stadium on Saturday. Cheltenham Town arrived at the match looking to pick up more points after losing 3-0 to Sheffield Wednesday in their previous fixture. Bristol Rovers were able to continue their winning streak after a 2-1 win against Cambridge Utd in their last match. Cheltenham Town are now in 20th place on the table and have 14 points while Bristol Rovers sit in 11th with 18 points after 14 matches.

Bristol Rovers started strong and were rewarded for their efforts, when Aaron Collins opened the rout, 15 minutes in. Bristol Rovers looked to have the match under control when they scored again to grab the advantage, thanks to a goal from Antony Evans, at 23 minutes to establish a 2-0. The momentum was again with Bristol Rovers, who then scored again courtesy of a goal from Bobby Thomas on the 42 minute mark to establish a 3-0 result. However they weren’t finished yet and Aaron Collins made it 4-0 just before half-time, which saw the first half end 4-0.

Cheltenham Town started the second half with an intensified spirit, with a goal from Liam Sercombe, at 54 minutes, leaving the final score at 4-1.

Substitutions for Cheltenham Town included Christian Norton and James Olayinka for Taylor Perry and Daniel N`Lundulu, respectively. Bristol Rovers brought on Josh Coburn, Harry Anderson, Luke McCormick, Trevor Clarke and Luca Hoole, to replace Ryan Loft, Jordan Rossiter, Sam Finley, Aaron Collins and Lewis Gibson.

The referee booked one player from Bristol Rovers, Lewis Gibson.

Cheltenham Town will next travel to Burton Albion, while Bristol Rovers will face Plymouth Argyle at home.
